How Picko works

Picko is a local marketplace for used things. Instead of scrolling listings and messaging strangers, you tell an agent what you want. It does the searching and the asking, and you make the call.

If you're buying

1. Say it in one sentence. For example: "a 3-person tent under $150, pickup this week." Picko reads the budget, the date, how far you'll go and whether shipping is fine.
2. Your agent looks, and keeps looking. It scores every listing nearby against what you asked for, and checks again when new ones are posted, even when the app is closed.
3. It asks sellers what the listing doesn't say. Damage, exact size, pickup times. Sellers answer once, and their agent can answer the next buyer from that.
4. It can agree a price. If the seller is open to offers, your agent negotiates within your budget and the seller's lowest price. The seller's lowest price is never shown to you.
5. You get a few picks, with reasons. Choose one, and the seller hears you'd like to take it. You meet, check the item and pay in person.

If you're selling

1. Add photos and a price. Picko reads your cover photo and suggests a title and condition you can change.
2. Answer a few questions once. Where to pick up, any damage, the size, whether you take offers and your lowest price.
3. Your agent handles buyers. It answers what you already said and only asks you what's new. You see every conversation.
4. Mark it sold. When it's gone, delete the listing and tell us whether it sold on Picko.

What Picko doesn't do

• It doesn't take payments or hold money. Buyers and sellers pay each other at handoff.
• An agreed price isn't a binding sale. Both people confirm when they meet.
• Sellers never see who a buyer is, and nobody sees exactly where you are: distances only.
